Surprise Proposal Photo Shoot

When Kellie from Hetler Photography approached me about doing a photo shoot we knew wanted to create something really special. Kellie threw out the idea of finding someone that was getting ready to propose and I loved the idea! Once we connected with John, the planning began by lining up the amazing vendors that all donated their time, energy and products to make this possible.

The space at Baker Events had recently been renovated and it really deserved to be spotlighted. They had the perfect separate space for the proposal. With the columns as a focal point in the room we wanted to add some drama and color to make it pop. I really wanted to create a color palette that was fun, young but yet romantic. By bringing in the deeper and lighter purple tones it really lent itself to an elegant look and, of course, what is a love shoot without red! The ribbon wall consisted of over 1000 feet of ribbon in all different textures, sizes and colors and also included strands of white carnation garland to add an extra special touch. The dozens of candles and red rose petals added the final romance factor.

We set up two tables in the hallway leading to the proposal room. Each table had a handwritten love letter from John to Shay and cute signs telling her to stop and read them.

I designed the party space by bringing in grey linens for the high top tables, gorgeous floral arrangements from Posh Petals for the tables, as well as the bar area, and lots of candlelight. The floral arrangements incorporated the reds and purples from the ribbon wall as well as the Pantone color of the year “radiant orchid”. The Event Studio set up a small candy buffet for the couples to enjoy with the “Punch-Drunk in Love” punch and bubbly displayed on the bar. All of the paper products from Jamie Lynn Creative really pulled everything together. Including the adorable congratulatory signs held by the couple’s friends when they entered the room after the question was popped!

There is nothing better than celebrating your engagement than having a black tie cocktail party with some of your closest friends, so we did just that. The gentlemen looked so handsome in their black tuxes from Dunhill Tuxedo and the ladies were gorgeous in their champagne, red and purple cocktail dresses. With hair and make-up done by Cheeky Strut, everyone was picture perfect!

But the most important thing about the whole day?!
